Challenge Up Your Life - #5 Kraft Cardstock

Enjoying some extra time off work for the holidays, I came across this awesome challenge blog. I had already told myself that I would try new techniques and accept more challenges in 2015. This is the 1st challenge I came to so here we go! This challenge is to use mostly kraft cardstock on your project. Being a crafter that loves the bright colors, this was definitely a challenge :-)
I added gold and clear embossing powder to the flowers for a little interest.
Paper: The Paper Studio - Sunbeam Meadow Kraft Paper Pack
Sentiment: Hero Arts - Messages with Flourish
Gold & Clear Embossing Powder
Gold Gems

This little pig image is from the Craftin' Desert Divas -Just Pigcause stamp set

The deer and tree dies are from Impression Obsession. I think I will practice with black and white inks to give them a little more dimension.
There is still plenty of time to join the challenge. Hope you are having a crafty day!

OWH Red Friday Blog Hop Linky

In response to the OWH Red Friday Blog Hop, I created a Love card using some Idea-Ology Film Strip Ribbon. I have been hoarding it for a couple of years and after seeing Sandy Allnock's cute card, I thought I would try it out.
Here's a peek at Sandy's card
It's made out of a stiff plastic like the real film strip and curled in this tiny container so getting it to lie flat was not an option. I had it laid out overnight with weighted items and it wasn't budgin' so I adhered it to the back with tape, colored my staples brown and added 1 to each side for stability. I stamped some little Peachy Keen faces directly on to the Bo Bunny paper using a Fiskar's stamp press and finished it off with a few Hero Arts gems.
I embossed the sentiment and matching hearts but apparently, this was not World Embossing Day. I tried 3 times on the sentiment, using the dust buddy and still couldn't get a clean sentiment. The hearts turned out pretty well though lol
Hope you will take time to visit the OWH blog hop participants. They have some really cute ideas!!

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #18

Challenge #18 - Layer It!

I came across this challenge blog while visiting a Creative Lady named Donna and couldn't wait to get started on this challenge! I saw this badge on the CHAC Blog and thought....this is SO me!! LOL
I have so many supplies that I never use because it's not the right color or theme but I put my thinkin' cap on and got to work looking for all those supplies that I have neglected!
I chose some spooky, creepy spider paper & purple/orange stripe from the Graphic 45 Happy Haunting paper pad. I have had this EK Success web punch for 3-4 years and have only used it once but I knew it would make a perfect border. I finished it off with a Wink of Stella clear glitter pen.
The EEEK sentiment & spider are minis from Studio G which I heat embossed. I left the excess powder for that spooky effect. I added Range Tea Dye distress ink around the sentiment edges and Darice gems to the edge in hopes of bringing out the colors in the striped paper. The googly eyes on the spider makes him super scary don't ya think?
See those little white circles up there? I previously used all the pop dots and this is what is left. Instead of tossing it out, I used it on the back of the sentiment, as is, to add dimension! pays to be a hoarder....never throw anything away 'cause you might just find a use for it some day!
I didn't have any black twine (whaaaat?) so I used some Clubhouse Crafts elastic cord (Wal-Mart) and colored it with a marker. I didn't have any black crinkle ribbon either (whaaaat) but I did have some white 3 Girl Jam ribbon which I colored with alcohol ink. It was messy but turned out just fine!

Well, I think I met the requirements of this challenge: 6 layers on the base and 3 layers on the sentiment and I didn't use any newly purchased items! This challenge closes November 2nd so there's plenty of time for you to enter! Visit the website here and see what else they have in store to spark your creativity!
Hope you have a crafty day!

Stamp Organization

I was so tired of wasting time searching for the perfect stamp I decided to take a few hours and do what I had been thinking about for a long time. Little did I know that it would end up taking 3 weeks but I am soooooo glad I did it.
This is actually a storage box for photos. I get them when JoAnn's or Hobby Lobby runs the 50% off sale because they are about $40. I labeled each container with a #. I labeled the individual boxes with that # plus a letter.
I grouped "like" stamps together so they are all in 1 place: trees/nature, birds, pets, nautical, christmas, winter.... sentiments are grouped together too: birthday, love, miss you, hello.....I have a section for boy stuff (trucks, 4 wheelers) and girl stuff (make up, shopping)......a section for food (cupcakes, ice cream, coffee, etc.   you get the picture :-)
There is a picture on both sides of the box with the stamped images. I cut 4 x 6 cardstock pieces, placed all the stamps, used a big acrylic block and stamped as 1 big image.
I always want to give credit to the manufacturers so I #d the images on the front and indexed them on the back. I used pink copy paper to keep the 2 sides of stamps from sticking together or getting mixed up.

I scanned the stamped cards 3 at a time. I put the box # in the margins. So, if I am looking for a horse, I know that I can find it in box 1J. If I need a frog, I can find them in 1M.
For rubber stamps or wood stamp sets. I just scanned the insert like on the left or scanned the whote set of stamps like on the right.
Look at the 6k picture at the bottom. Would you believe I had THIRTY different stamp set with stars? As you can see, I #d each widdle star and put the stamp set on the back of the card so now, all of my stars are in 1 place but I still know where it came from!
I now have 8 boxes of stamps with my handy binder so I don't waste any time when I need something in particular. Like I said, it took a lot of time but it was well worth it for my style of crafting. :-)'s time for me to get busy! lol  Hope you have a crafty day!

Now, prepare to be spooked!

My son is 24 now and it's been a looong time since we went trick or treating. (sniff) I have heard so much about Project Life I thought I would give it a try and hopefully catch up on my scrapbooking! Here is my attempt......All I have left to do now is the journaling.
Is this not the most intimidating pirate you ever diapers?? The bare spots are for my journaling. I am going to write directly on the base instead of adding a mat.
Should have made the cat's eyes green.....duhhh. Oh well, I will remember that next time! The moon is acutally a mini book cover in the Artbooking cartridge. I flipped the image and tucked the binding part behind the photo.

Although it was very fun to do, I wouldn't say it was any quicker than the old fashioned way of scrapbooking. Maybe I need to quit reminiscing and get busy scrapping! lol

Thanks for stopping by and hopping with us ~ Here's a little "treat" for ya. (and no I will not smell your feet) Leave a comment and I will announce the winner on Wednesday! Good luck :-)

A2Z Scrapbooking WCMD Challenges 2 & 3

In my opinion, every day should be World Card Making Day! Just sayin.... :-)

I had never tried the die cut on the front of a card. I really like the way this turned out.
Challenge 2  - Anything Goes

Tree Die, Tree & Sentiment ~ Hero Arts - Stamp & Cut Christmas Tree
Inks ~ Hero Arts - Hero Hues: Punch & Shadow Ink: Field Greens
Self Adhesive Gems ~ Hero Arts Hero Hues: Red & Green
Ribbon & Star Gem ~ From My Stash

I am entering this in the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge White Out category!

Challenge 3 - Anything but a card
Love doesn't always have to be about romance right? Take this next project for instance. I started to trash this project and do something else because I wasn't happy with the way copics "bled" under the stencil. But, I kept pressing on and think it turned out pretty cute anyway!

What's not to love about M & M's! I added a bookmark to the tag to be used when all the yummy goodness is gone. I think I will go back and adhere the Love tag to the bookmark with foam tape. You can' tell by this picture but I added shimmer to the bookmark and tag with a glitter pen.
Tag & Sentiment ~ Hero Arts - Stamp & Cut Joy Tags
Ink ~ Hero Arts - Butter Bar Shadow Ink
Hero Arts Rain Dance Pattern Stencil
Twine ~ Hero Arts Craft Twine
Ribbon ~ Offray
