Grillin' & Chillin' BBQ Hop ~

Hi there! Have the days gotten shorter? I swanny I don't know where the time has gone. Meanwhile, my scrapbooking projects keep piling up so I thought I would take this opportunity to begin catching up. It has been so long, I think I forgot how. I was mo-jo-less! Anyhoo, my husband and personal chef LOVES to grill out/smoke every chance he gets. He lives and breathes BBQ (kinda like me and papercrafting) so I created a layout to honor this oh so wonderful man.

He has lots of foodie friends on FB and they all share photos/recipes so I had no problem finding pictures to choose from. I will add the journaling in the space next to the tree and move that little picture up a bit...I think...
Yes, those are boiled eggs wrapped in sausage! I think they are called Scotch Eggs. Yummy! When dinner is ready....he ALWAYS says "come n get it"! lol Am I not the luckiest gal in the world?

I bought these tiny silverware pieces at Hobby Lobby in the doll house accessory dept because I just KNEW I would use them for something...one day. And look how cute!! (yes, my adorable husband decorates my plate just like at those fancy restaurants)
It gets hot in Mississippi in the summer so a tiki umbrella becomes a necessity for those all-day smokes!
If you want to see more of Chef Edward's BBQ delights, you can find them here at
Lisa has some wonderful sponsors for this hop ~ Be sure to check out the fabulous prizes up for grabs by beginning the hop here!  I am sure they would love to have you over for a visit so check out their blogs and stores when you have a moment.
So glad you are hopping along with us today! Hey...leave a comment for your chance to win some summer blog candy! Followers welcome :-) I will announce the winner on this post Wednesday!!!
As always, thanks so much for your comments. They really help me see the areas that need improvement. And the winner isssssssss...JANIS! Please send your address to msmith38652@gmail.com and I will get your package right out! Until next time....have a crafty day!

P.S. I would like to send a big shout out to my mother who gave me a Cricut Expression about 2-1/2 years ago. I think I have about figured it out lolol! Me and my Cricut have a love/hate relationship. Thankfully, this project was on the Love side! Thanks Mom for your support  & encouragement (hugs)

OWH Sketch #180 & Paper Smooches ~

Sketch #180 ~
I thought I would use this sketch for Any Hero cards. With every OWH box sent, they include notes of encouragement for our Heroes. I also have stamp sets that are feeling neglected so I thought I would begin trying to use every stamp in the set for the challenges. Today's spotlight is on Paper Smooches and the Circle of Honor Stamp Set.

Paper: DCWV - The Boyhood Stack
Ink: Hero Arts Chalk Ink - Punch, Stampabilities Dye Ink - Royal Blue
Star Stickers: 4th of July Crafts - Hobby Lobby
Crafter's Cord: Hemptique - Americana (very coarse - would recommend twine instead)
Dimensional Adhesive, Googly Eye

Wasn't quite sure what to do with the banners since they were smaller than the sentiments but I was determined to use EVERY stamp in the set. LOL Here is what I came up with.

The red paper border was created with an attachment that came with my trimmer
Blue Lattice Paper - The Paper Studio - The Basics
Star Stickers: 4th of July Crafts - Hobby Lobby
Smiley Faces: Peachy Keen - Everyday Character Face Asst Stamp Set
Viva Decor Pearl Pen - Blue

My friend, Denise, is moving into a new house this weekend so the "Welcome Home" sentiment was perfect! I used the straight line stamp under the sentiment hoping that when I punched it, it would look like the blacktop asphalt on the street. Not sure I accomplished that.
Paper: DCWV - Grade School
Ink: Momento - Tuxedo Black
Punch: Fiskars Oval
Spellbinders: Romantic Rectangles
Ribbon: Red - Simplicity
Red Gems: Kathy Davis Ambrosia - JoAnn's
Dimensional Adhesive

You may have seen this card that I posted previously using the "missing you" sentiment.
As I was checking out the Paper Smooches Store, I came across the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge Blog (use gray, white, red & blue) so I thought I would link it up! A big shout out to PS for being a supporter of OWH!!
So there you have it.....I used every stamp in the set!!! That was fun ~ Hope you'll give it a try!

OWH ODBD July Challenge - Stitching ~

Our friends over at Our Daily Bread Designs make a shipping donation every month based on the number of cards in the InLinkz (only one entry per person) – ODBD will sponsor one large box of cards for every 25 cards linked to the challenge post, with a maximum of 2 boxes per month. We had 54 cards linked during the month of June. Our heroes will be very excited to know they are getting 2 boxes shipped courtesy of ODBD again this month. The challenge for July is to make a card with stitching ~ real or faux.

Cricut Create a Critter 2 Cartridge (horse)
Paper: DCWV Citrus Stack
Martha Stewart Scissors (grass); Fiskars Punch (small clouds)
Hero Arts Stamp Sets - My Hero (sentiment) & Happy Birthday (Cloud)
Heidi Grace Fabric Stickers (butterfly)
Googly Eyes, Scor Tape, Dimensional Adhesive
I used a brown pencil to create the stitching around the horse and dimensional adhesive on the clouds.
I think this image is from Art Impressions but I couldn't find it on their site. I used a white gel pen for the stitching. I tried a yellow pencil 1st but you could barely see it. The sentiment is from SP & Company Bold Sentiments I and the yellow dots were created with yellow fabric paint.

I hope you will take time to link your stitching project up. Sandy and Kris work so hard getting these cards to our Heroes and "it ain't cheap"! Check out the totals on the June 2013 report.....
I think it's amazing how well they document everything and keep us OWHers up to date! Now off you go......color, create, coordinate and remember.....focus on Quality....not quantity :-)

OWH & LTL Prints Contest Card Share ~

For information about the LTL Prints Facebook contest and OWH ~ Click here!  Thanks for stopping by.
I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to create the brick background. The sentiment is from the Dare 2B  Artsy - Thinking of You stamp set with Hero Arts Chalk ink.
The banner was hand cut and using the Hero Arts Chalk ink and I combined the following stamp sets:
Sentiment - Interior: Dare 2B Artsy - Missing You Stamp Set
Sentiment - Front: Dare 2B Artsy - Thinking of You Stamp Set
The star ribbon is from Wal-Mart.

OWH Sketch 177, 178 & 179 ~

Sometimes I get so caught up in being creative, I don't want to take time to complete my blog posts. I would love to throw the pictures in there and get back to being productive but I know when I visit other blogs, I enjoy seeing what materials they used or learning about a new technique. So....let's get started!

OWH Sketch #179

When fussy cutting an image, it's best to hold your scissors straight and rotate the image as needed ~ A tip I learned from the OWH executive director, Sandy Allnock. If you haven't checked out the 100+ OWH tutorials, you don't know what you're missing!
Paper: Recollections - Bold Basics
Image: Stampabilities - Peanuts: Eating Ice Cream (You can use licensed images for OWH cards if they are made for paper crafting but you cannot use licensed images printed from the internet, etc.)
Sentiment: My Favorite Things - Straight from the Carton Stamp set ( I cut the stamp in half to make it fit in the space needed - another great tip from Sandy Allnock)
Ink: Momento - Tuxedo Black & Stampabilities - Christmas Green
Scalloped Border Punch: Fiskars
Gems: Pink & Black - from my stash

OWH Sketch #178
These patterned papers are from the DCWV - Grade School
I totally forgot to add the banner on the next 2 cards!!!
The frog and cat tail are from the Cricut Create a Critter 2 cartridge. I used polka dot green paper for the frog but the dots don't really show up. I used a circle punch to create the corners.
I have no idea why this background is blue when the photos were taken at the same time (the next one is white).
Paper: DCWV - Citrus Stack
Sentiment: Cindy Echtinaw Designs - Labels 25 Floral Friendship (matches Spellbinders dies)

Paper: DCWV - Citrus Stack
Sentiment: K Andrew Designs - Scripture Sayings Stamp Set
Flower: StampingScrapping.com

OWH Sketch #177

I shall leave no scrap behind!!! I used the scraps cut from the banner for inside decoration.
Puppy: Cricut Create a Critter 2 Cartridge
Paper: DCWV Animal Crackers Matstack
Sentiment: My Favorite Things - Choose Hope Stamp Set
Momento Tangelo Dye Ink
Faux Stitching: Sharpie (I can't believe how perfectly it matched the Momento ink)
Bones: The Paper Studio - Spare Parts Dog Bone Brads
Paw Prints: Stickopotamus Stickers (yeah, I think they are bear prints lol)
Eyes: Black Gems
Blue Gems: Kathy Davis Happiness Collection
