OWH Virtual Card Making Party ~ 10

Challenge 10 ~ Bling
Whoot woot! I made it to the last challenge of the OWH President's Day Virtual Card Making Party! This challenge required soldier safe bling....no glitter! The paper was a border trimmed from another piece of paper. I think it was from DCWV Nana's Kids. The bling and flowers are from my stash and the Offray ribbon has a sparkly thread through it but it's not visable here. The sticker was not in the original package so I don't know the mfr. It was rather thick and stiff and not wanting to adhere well so I may end up changing that.
I hope you have a wonderful week and make time to get crafty!

OWH Virtual Card Making Party ~ 9

Challenge 9 ~ 3 layers of white
Getting down to the last minute here but hey....I'm trying! White is one color I don't use often enough. I think it's really pretty and focuses on the sentiment. Only 1 more challenge to go! I can't wait until I have time to go back and see everyone's projects!
Paper: Core'dinations Tillie Dot & Jillian Dot
Ink: Martha Stewart Aquarium - Dusk Blue
Flower: Close to my Heart
Brad: Spare Parts
Sentiment: Hero Arts - Fred Bear stamp set

OWH Virtual Card Making Party ~ 8

Challenge 8 ~ Washi Tape
I was fortunate enough to win some of this yummy goodness from Washi Up and The Scrapbooking Queen so this will be my 1st project using washi tape!
This sweet little image is from La La Land Crafts. I drew a line around the Spellbinders Curved Rectangle die and inked the sky with Martha Stewart Aquarium ink (Ocean).
Using the Fiskars and The Paper Studio punches, I outlined them, applied washi tape and punched!
I am an amateur at coloring so I thought I would share my process for future reference and for those who have never tried it. Colors look dreadful until you "blend" them with the coordinating color.
I stamped the Hero Arts Happy Birthday sentiment directly on the washi tape.....BAD IDEA because the ink does not transfer to that slick surface. I hurriedly grabbed my black embossing powder before the ink dried. Since it was already stamped, I didn't have the option of using my anti static pad first which is a must for embossing. Needless to say, this turned out super ugly. Now you know what NOT to do lol
The colors in the grass eventually blended together as they dried. Looks ok but I would have preferred something brighter. Hence, look at the pen you pick up before coloring lol.
My wonderful husband ordered me a roll of "precious" so I can use foam tape for everything! The yellow ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon's Welcome Spring assortment. I intended to add a bow to give it more color but totally forgot once my stamp thing didn't turn out. Wanted to scrap the whole project but posted anyway in hopes of helping others avoid the same mistakes I made.

To Do: remove/change sentiment, add more yellow, add some bling along the upper left....yeah...needs a lot of TLC. Thanks for taking the time to visit ~ suggestions are always welcome and appreciated!
~~~ Have a Happy Crafty Day ~~~
Paper: DCWV - Stack 8 (stripe); The Paper Studio - Four Seasons (green dot) & Affinity (teal)
Sticker is from my stash. When I first started scrapbooking, I never thought I would ever share it therefore, I threw all packaging away to remove the clutter. Now, I try to make sure I give credit to all of the amazing companies and designers who come up with this awesomeness.
This one is a work in progress but I love this technique! Maybe I will finish it by December LOL Need to figure out what to do with the tree trunk.....not really diggin' it right now. Any suggestions?
Thanks a million for hopping along with us! I have some Christmas goodies in my stash that I want to give away to 1 of my sweet followers. Just leave a comment and check back here on Wednesday to see if you are the winner!!  Let me be the 1st to wish you a very Merry Christmas this year!!!
All Racing Hop ~
Welcome to the All Racing Blog Hop! Today we are celebrating the start of the 2013 Nascar Season and the Daytona 500. If you have raced over from Toni's blog, you are in the right way. If you just happened upon this post, race over to Carla's Blog to start from the beginning.
Our wonderful sponsor for this hop is Nikki over at http://www.paperpiecingsbynikki.com/. She has graciously offered a $25.00 gift certificate to her store. To be eligible to win this you must leave a comment on all the blog posts.
I don't have a lot of embellishments in my scrapbook because I collect so many little artifacts from our trip and I want to focus on the pictures, autographs, events, etc.
 I try to get the local newspaper the next day. Here I have the newspaper's picture and mine in the lower right corner.
 The layout on the left is....just before the race.....National Guard troops came from every direction in the stands to surprise their loved ones standing on the track. I have chills now just thinking about that awesome moment and so glad I was there to share it with them! The layout on the right is our camping spot at Bristol. There are cows and turkeys on the mountainside behind us and the other pics are the front window view. Yes, we already have tickets for the August night race!!
 I strongly advise the headphone rental! It's so worth it because you can listen to the radio broadcast and know what's going on AND you can tune in to every driver's car and listen to what they have to say.   Please note that the drivers can....and will....say what's on their mind so you may want to monitor what channels your children may be listening to. LOL
Camping at Talladega on Halloween ~ Gotta love it. By the way, how do you like my friend's cowboy style rain boots?? Cute huh?
OMG We were lucky enough to be given tickets for the sky box at Bristol last year. It was an experience I will never forget but we decided we would much rather be out there with the fans and the ambiance that IS NASCAR!
 This was my 1st race ever in Atlanta. I was in awe when I walked up those stairs and saw the track and have been hooked ever since! One thing that I need to do with ALL of my scrapbooks, is take time to add the journaling before I forget everything. Life is just passing me by too quick these days!
In case you missed it, here is a sweet little card I made for the Operation Write Home Virtual Card Making Party last weekend. You have until 2/25 to complete all 10 challenges so there is still plenty of time for you to get in on the fun! Check it out once you have completed this hop! For details about this card, click here.
Thanks for taking a pit stop by my blog today. Hope you were inspired to attend at least one race in your lifetime...just to say you did! You too can be a "Sprint Cup Champion"!!! I have blog candy for 1 sweet follower. Check back here on Wednesday to see if you are a winner!!!
Happy Friday everyone ~ Have  a great weekend!!
OWH Virtual Card Making Party ~ 7
Challenge 7 - Things with Caffeine
This isn't one of my favorites but I completed the challenge! The image and sentiment are from the Fiskars Latte Love set and stamped and embossed with blue powders. The papers are Core'dinations Tillie Dot and DCWV Stack 8. The die cuts are Spellbinders Labels Three and finished off with Offray ribbons. I used foam tape behind the coffee cup image to add a little dimension.
 It appears that I need a new embossing pad. The image isn't quite as filled in as I would like.
The next challenge is Washi Tape which I have never used before so this should be interesting! Join me tomorrow for the All Racing Hop where we are kicking off the 2013 NASCAR season!!! Blog candy up for grabs and I will actually post a scrapbooking layout!!  Have a crafty day everybody!!
