I know the theme of this hop is fast food but as I was trying to come up with something clever, the following idea kept weighing on my heart so my apologies for being off topic.
My mother often offers suggestions for my next project. Something she saw on television or read in a magazine. She is always encouraging me to do what I love and I really appreciate her ideas! She recently told me about a book titled:

The God Box by Mary Lou Quinlan

When Mary Lou Quinlan’s beloved mother, Mary Finlayson, dies, her family is left bereft—until Quinlan finds her mother’s “God Box,” or rather, boxes. These simple containers are stuffed with tiny notes written by Mary, asking and praying for everything from the right flooring for her daughter’s new home to a cure for her own blood cancer. Mary’s petitions are presented with love and without expectation. Note by note, Quinlan unearths insights into her mother’s compassion, faith, and perseverance, and revelations of her innermost thoughts—nostalgic, surprising, and even a bit shocking. And through the journey, the author discovers her own more empathetic, more engaged self—the woman her mother had believed in all along.

I have been through many trials in my life but I have many blessings to be thankful for as well. For my project today, I made my wonderful mother her very own God Box for she too, has had many trials and tribulations lately.

My awesome hubby picked up this 12 x 24 Cricut mat and paper for me so I was able to make a nice sized box using the "fit to page" feature.
Using my handy bone tool, I folded the paper on the score lines to form the box.
Unfortunately, the 12 x 24 cardstock is very weak so I taped the floor of the box for stability then added a thicker cardstock which you will see in the next pic.
I experimented using 2 12 x 12 sheets of thicker paper. It worked pretty well since I just needed bits and pieces for the interior of the box.
Only a Cricut user can feel my pain as I removed the paper from the brand new mat. OMG it was stuck like bees on honey!!
It was about this time that my ATG gun ran out of tape. No worries, I have double sided tape in my regular tape dispenser. Yep, I had about 2" worth. Oh me oh my......
So anyway, I needed something to create a "window" on the top of the box. Low and behold, I had just thrown away the container that my ScorPal came in. I hastily went to the trash to retrieve the jewel!
I added pop dots for dimension because I later added pearls and stickles to the stamped image.
Some of the supplies I used for this awesome project!

Once the side flaps are folded in, this is on the top of the outer flap.
The top of the box. You can't see the shimmer of the stickles but it's there :-)

I took the liberty of adding the 1st note.
I am including different sizes of note cards with the box. Remember all those scraps we used up a couple of weeks ago with the Spellbinders? Having these on hand saved me a lot of time tonight!!
Mom, I know you will be reading this soon and I want to thank YOU.... for never giving up during your treatments! You were a trooper and I am so very grateful to still have you in my life. I love you xoxoxo

As promised, I have blog candy for one of my sweet followers.......

1 of these 2 cartridges or a surprise box...your choice! I will randomly choose a winner and announce it on Saturday.

I'm so glad you stopped by to check out my latest recipe, no tip is necessary but please leave a message for the establishment. Your next stop through the drive through window is Pamela. Hop on over and see what she is serving!

Hugs, Love and thank you for helping us celebrate Lynne's blogaversary!!!!

The ABC's of Scrapbooking Blog Hop - Day 2

Welcome to the ABC's of Scrapbooking Blog Hop . . . what a wonderful way to show our love of scrapbooking! Today we are expressing our love to showing off our memories!!!! Well hop along with us and see all the wonderful layouts these talented women are displaying.
We have great blog candy to one lucky winner- $20 in free files over at All you have to do is follow my blog, the design team blog at and leave a comment on all blogs. This shouldn't take long to do as we only have four incredibly talented ladies participating.
If you have just stopped for a visit today -- welcome and glad you came but I wouldn't want you to miss a single layout along the way and would want you to start at the beginning with Lisa at Scrapping With Lisa ( If you arrived from Lisa W.~ then you are following the ABC's of Scrapbooking.
The Lineup:
My project today WAS going to be the letter "B". If you hopped along with me yesterday, you will know what I mean. I found a 99 cent plastic spray bottle and filled it 1/2 way with Bleach. It was on my "list" of things to experiment with.....and I did. lol The 1st time, I simply sprayed the bleach on the paper. Wow....does that stuff dry fast! As you can see, I think I sprayed a little too much! With the second attempt, I used a stencil and a paint brush. After looking over both pages, I tossed them aside because I wasn't gettin' any creative vibes from THIS! (maybe it was the bleach fumes....) Sometimes, it just takes a lot of practice to perfect something...right?? We will try that again at a later date.

Since that failed miserably and it is way past my bedtime, I thought I would share a few random "layouts in progress". I have a bazillion and ten photographs so I tend to position the main pictures first and fill in the embellishment, journaling, etc. later.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of my father's unexpected passing at age 54. He died on his mother's birthday who passed away several years later. I miss them terribly but I am not saddened because I know God needed more angels to watch over us. My son was only 2 when he died and my biggest regret is that my father didn't get to see what a wonderful person his grandchild turned out to be and my son didn't get the chance to know his grandfather. Take time today to hug those you love, call a friend, forgive and forget. Life is too short and we never know if today will be the last time we see them.

My father was also a soldier. With Memorial Day coming up, I thought it appropriate to share the only military photo I have. He is the 1st one on the left, second row.

I thank you for stopping and checking out my projects. As mentioned in yesterday's post, I have a surprise package ready to go out to 1 lucky follower. I will randomly choose a winner from both days comments on Friday so you have 2 chances to win! I am your last stop in this hop so feel free to head on over to Lisa's store and see what super cute stuff awaits!

The Lineup:

I often enter my craft room with good intentions of productivity. I look around at all the buttons, ribbons, and paper oh my.....I get overrun with ideas, can't decide which one to work on so I turn around slowly, turn the light off and run to the couch hoping nobody will notice. Given the theme of this hop, I concluded it would be the perfect opportunity to make a list of items and techniques I have seen on my friends blogs but have yet to try. This time, when I enter my room with no plan, I can go to the next letter on my list and narrow down the choices! My next list will be for manufacturers. Using their stamps, images, papers, etc. This way, I can rest assured that everything I have purchased will eventually get used! No stone left un-turned so to speak!

Today my project is a layout using the letter A. I rarely create anything for or about me and I wanted to share some of life's most precious lessons with my children, grandchildren, etc. I started my 1st mini album using the Tim Holtz grungeboard. As you know, it only comes in gray so I used Acrylic Paint to liven it up a bit. I also painted the chipboard letters and added dots with a gel pen. Of course, I had to try the Action Wobble on the Snoopy image! I was amazed at how simple it was to use! Don't be surprised if my next 10 projects don't include wobbles!!!

Liebster Blog Award from Regina Hardy

Sending hugs and a big THANK YOU to Regina Cooper Hardy at Cards by Regina for choosing me to receive the Liebster Award! I am so very honored to have been chosen from all the wonderful, talented crafters in this community! Here is one of Regina's most recent, fabulous creations.....
The origins of the Liebster Blog award are unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany. Liebster meaning favorite or dearest, to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. Upon accepting the award the recipient must pass it on to five more blogs of note.

I have seen so many wonderful blogs with overflowing creativity! Each of them with their own unique style and willingness to share new techniques and instructions. That's what it's all about...sharing.

Here's what you do as a presenter of this award!
1. Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
2. Link back to the blogger who presented the award to you.
3. Copy and paste the blog award on your blog.
4. Present the Liebster Blog Award to 5 blogs of 200 followers or less who you feel deserve.
5. Let them know they have been chosen by leaving a comment at their blog.

Without further adieu, it's my turn to pay it forward! My picks for fellow bloggers with less than 200 followers, in no particular order, are as follows:
1. Madge from Scrappin Madge

3. Emma from KatelynCo

4.Tammie from My Sweet Paper Dreams
5. Chrissie from Harvest Moon Papiere

Now, if each of the 5 people I have chosen would please choose 5 of their own!

Thanks again to Regina for the Liebster Blog Award! Please check out her blog as well as these other fabulous women and be inspired by their creativity! ((hugs))
